Brian Loebick (Bloebick) | Thursday, May 09, 2002 - 07:37 pm I had a pair of BFG Radial TA 255/60 R15 on my 87 GN, mounted on the stock rims. I cut one the other day. I replaced them with the same tires. Now on the inner driver side, it looks like I'm rubbing the frame a little. Only about a 1/2 inch clearance. I don't recall it rubbing on the old pair. I don't hear anything and it doesn't look bad. Is this something I should be concerned about? I have them inflated to 32 lbs and replaced the coil springs all around last year. The old ones I kept at 28 lbs, would lowering the inflatation help? Thanks, Brian |
frank marshall (Turbofrank) | Friday, May 10, 2002 - 04:26 am Brian, I think 255/60-15 are a little to large on stock rims. I run 245/60-15 and that is cutting it close, my 2cts Frank |
Chris Bischof (Ungn) | Friday, May 10, 2002 - 10:56 am Did something on the frame cut the tire? I've run 275/50 and 275/60's and have WAYYY less than .5 inch between the tire and the frame and have never had any tire damage. Make sure there isn't an obvious sharp piece of metal sticking out in the wheel well. |
Brian Loebick (Bloebick) | Friday, May 10, 2002 - 11:58 am I cut the outer sidewall in a construction zone. She got real loose. I was surprised in the difference between the two tires. The passenger side has a good inch and a half. I'm glad to hear somebody else didn't have problems with that little a margin. Thanks |
