Carl Barbieri (Carlgn) | Monday, April 07, 2003 - 12:17 pm I just purchased an 87gn with stock size tires. I would like to know if 225/60/15 would be good all around. Or should I stick to 215/65/15 in the front and go with 225/60/15 or 235/60/15 in the back. Will this affect my speedometer? thanks |

Sean Martin (Seanm) | Thursday, June 05, 2003 - 10:07 pm Does anybody have a specific preference when it comes to what tires to run on a TR? I'm shopping for a new set right now. Is it worth it to step up a little in price for a higher speed rating than the "S" that the BFG Radials come with? Thanks for your feedback. |
Phil Aubrey (Paubrey) | Friday, June 06, 2003 - 07:52 pm Depends on what you want. Stay with a 26 inch tire if you want your speedo and gear ratio to remain the same. These cars are not ment for high speed, they are drag cars. If you re-chip it and get over 127 mph be carefull. They get real light in the front end. |
frank marshall (Turbofrank) | Saturday, June 07, 2003 - 11:20 am Street tires Pep Boys here tires don't last long on the back of the car due to heavy pedal. |
Sean Martin (Seanm) | Monday, June 09, 2003 - 08:10 pm Well, I went with the BFG's again. The car had them on it when I bought it and I don't have any complaints so what the hey. I did, however, get wider tires (215 to a 235) in front and now i get a little rub once in a while. Is this a common problem for anybody else? Thanks guys. |
Brett A. Wallace (Grdnatl87) | Monday, June 09, 2003 - 09:55 pm I like BFG Radials and Comp TA's, however, using the same size tires (235/60/15) on all 4 tires are great for when you burn the rear tires off partially and need to rotate tires for normal wear and "TEAR". On sharp turns, the front tires did rub when NEW, but that's resolved after smokin the tires periodically. later Brett |
Shawn (Jsta6) | Tuesday, June 10, 2003 - 10:24 am I had no problems with 245/60/15 or 245/50/16. Maybe it is time for new springs? |
