I just purchased an 87gn with stock size tires. I would like to know if 225/60/15 would be good all around. Or should I stick to 215/65/15 in the front and go with 225/60/15 or 235/60/15 in the back. Will this affect my speedometer? thanks

I had 235's all around on my GN. Won't affect the speedo as they are the same height.

I have 235/60/15 BFG drag radials in the back and 225/60/15 in the front. If I replace the fronts, I'd go to 215/60/15. I don't believe you need then that big in the front. I'd probably buy BFG Comp T/A's.

I run 255/60/15's in the rear and 215/60/15's in the front, but on 8inch Eagle Alloys, works for me!

Does anybody have a specific preference when it comes to what tires to run on a TR? I'm shopping for a new set right now. Is it worth it to step up a little in price for a higher speed rating than the "S" that the BFG Radials come with? Thanks for your feedback.

Depends on what you want. Stay with a 26 inch tire if you want your speedo and gear ratio to remain the same. These cars are not ment for high speed, they are drag cars. If you re-chip it and get over 127 mph be carefull. They get real light in the front end.

Street tires Pep Boys here tires don't last long
on the back of the car due to heavy pedal.

Well, I went with the BFG's again. The car had them on it when I bought it and I don't have any complaints so what the hey. I did, however, get wider tires (215 to a 235) in front and now i get a little rub once in a while. Is this a common problem for anybody else? Thanks guys.

I like BFG Radials and Comp TA's, however, using the same size tires (235/60/15) on all 4 tires are great for when you burn the rear tires off partially and need to rotate tires for normal wear and "TEAR". On sharp turns, the front tires did rub when NEW, but that's resolved after smokin the tires periodically.

Brett

I had no problems with 245/60/15 or 245/50/16.

Maybe it is time for new springs?
