I've just baught a 87 GN T-Type. Its in great condition, inside and out, excluding the not so good paint jobs they came with. I am just a little worrired with it being that it has 160,000 miles on it and the oringal engien/tranny in it. The turbo was rebulit last year, theirs no cats on it, other then that, the car is 100% stock in everyway. I was woundin that since im on 16, and got this car with all the money in the world i had, if you guys could give me some tips on what i should do to keep it in top shape, keep it running and goin strong, and some feedback on what u think could happen with all the miles on it. And by the way, its harsh but i got to pay 500$ a month in insurance, understandin that i got this car on my own and i have to pay for everything on it by myself, bein that i am only 16 (17 in 2 months) , its hard but i am willing to work for what i believe in and stay away from all the 'rice' cars out their. Im up on Long Island in NY.

uhhh..$500/month in insurance? Get a new insurance company with liability only. Thats more than insurance on a brand-new Ferrari!

Check out the Spring Cleaning articles posted on this site. http://www.gnttype.org/maint/basics.html
They explain a basic walkthrough for typical maintenance on these cars. Unless you suspect something wrong with the car - there's no reason to assume something is wrong. Things can go at any time. But - Valvesprings are probably in need of replacement as well as injectors, fuel pump, and PCV, EGR, Air Filter, etc. Check that stuff out. But if it runs good - dont sweat it until something goes. Just keep the oil changes, trans fluid clean, and replace filters...just normal "good maintenance". Thats about all you can hope for until you get the urge to run 11's in it ')

Welcome aboard, Nick!
