Hey guys, I am new here.. I currently own a 01 camaro SS and have been lookin at GN's for a while... I have a few questions and thought this would be a good place to start.. (if this is in the wrong forum, i apologize, i wasnt sure where to post)
1) Is it realistic to find a decent GN (mechanically) for under 4k? I dont care about the body work... I am just looking to buy one as a toy.. (I dont think any car will look better than my SS anyway... j/k)
2) Can you point me to some general FAQ's about GN's?
3) Assuming I find one stock, w/ a 2k budget, can I make it faster than my SS? (i figure this alone should get some people to post.. lol)

1. Even a fixer upper will run you 5K-6K for an 86 or 87 model, which is the one you want if you want to go fast easy.
2. Check out the site www.gnttype.org or www.turbobuick.com for some good info.
3. It won't take 2K to go faster that your SS, I'd say $500 will do that!
yup..just a chip, a pair of drag radials and an adjustable wastegate on a stock car will make you and the vette guys wonder what the heck you paid $25-30K for..

thanks guys, im gonna check out that link a bit later tonight.. 6-7k for a 2nd toy is a bit rich for my blood, but i am still gonna keep my eye out.. I have always loved turbo cars but I will never cross over to the dark side if imports!! I have a friend who gets salvage/flood title cars for real cheep, I probably wouldnt have too much luck finding a GN in that condition would I? I have seen like 3 or 4 of them on the road in my whole life..

You may find a Turbo-T or T-Type for that amount same car just different colors.
I am, or was in the very same boat. I too had an SS and it will always be my favorite. But, it gets too hard to make a payment on something and still have to put all the goodies on it. I have always had a liking for the TRs and it seemed like a logical way to have a late model GM product that fits in the budget and runs 12.50's that you can take the family to the park in with the t-tops out and have everyone turn and watch you go by. I also love to beat the ricers on the street. If you like a little street action, the TR will drum up more than the SS. The ricers run from LS1 cars.
