Just for kicks lets take a poll on stock cars verses modified ones.Mechanical or body counts. I am a stocker and a purest myself and it seems that I am greatly out numbered. I do consider real GNX parts stock. An example is my coil pack still has the “Turbo 6” decal on it and my GN has an SW GNX dash, turbo and trans valves. Changing paint color or wheels knocks you out of a stock class.

Never had a "Stock" car over a week, including the new GN in 87

Holy Cow?.
Yes, Batman, there is one.

It took me two months and 2000 miles to get the "juice" on my brand new TR. 'Course it only took 7000 miles to blow a head gasket, among other things. :) The general fixed it free of charge. It didn't have evidence of the offending gas by the time it made it to the dealer on five cylinders.

Still have the car. It's a bit faster now. No juice.

This is my dilema right now. I have a factory fresh 40,000 mile TR. Like new in everyway with 0 mods. I would love to have a few more ponys but I am hesitant to start modifying such a nice stocker. So for now Phil......stick me in the stocker class.

Well then, I'd have to be in the modified class. Sorry Phil, I love these cars, but I can't stand the stock GN wheels or having a car that looks just like anyone else's (an exception might be made on my part for something as fast and rare as a GNX).

Myself, I'm in the modified class.

A note to Gary: Just make easily reversible changes. Something like a higher volume fuel pump should be done for safety sake. Injectors are barely noticeable, and my '86 had an adjustable wastegate. Just these three simple things can make a notable difference (with a little more octane).

I started modding my GN the first day I bought it. Put a new steering wheel on that night. I haven't stopped yet...

I see there is a couple of low mileage "stockers" on ebay right now.

My buddy Paul in North Carolina also has a stock 12K mile 87 GN.

I think that injectors, fuel pump, adj wg can all be considered basic maintenance items.
