Ed MacKenzie (Edmackenzie) | Saturday, November 08, 2003 - 09:54 am Every since I was young my dream car was to have a 87 Buick Grand National. about 3 years ago I came across one that needed a lot of work but the price was right so i bought it. Spent that first summer working on it trying to get it right, with no success, stopped for the winter after trying a few things. The next summer I was working on it and the crank snapped on me. sent it away to an engine shop in Montreal and it came back after a few months and got it running. Still did not work right. So the next summer I found out what the problem was, fix it, was an overboosting problem. Anyways, drove it for a month, lost oil pressure to the top end and ripped the cam barrings out of it. So i fixed it all up, another fresh rebuild. Lasted about 10 minutes and the guy who built it put a few pistons in the wrong side and it knocked right away. Took it out and opened it up and the crank was tore out of it. I found another crank got it cut 10/10 new cam, bored 20 over, etc etc.. set it up right.. got 100 km ... and it ripped the rod barrings out of it. Pretty sure we know what the problem is, but I'm about to give up on it. New Paint, all Felpro Gaskets, all Comp Cam, spring, lifters, etc. shocks, springs, brakes, tires, all new sensors, gas tank, you name it, it was done. Its a t-bar, how much do you think i could get for it, with the engine no good? |
