Thursday, February 05, 2004 - 09:52 am Hello everyone. I'm new to the site and have recently been looking for my first Grand National. I've always loved the cars and now I have finally considering one. I am 19 years old so I'm looking for something that is somewhat reliable, although I don't take too many long-distance trips. I would greatly appreciate any information you could provide that you think I ought to consider before purchasing. One specific question I have is just how dependable the turbo is on these cars aging about 20 years now. Also, what kind of gas mileage can I expect on them today? Thanks, Anthony

Thursday, February 05, 2004 - 11:58 am These cars are like any other car and the turbo is not the magical component to be concerned with. Look for the typical "used car" stuff ... excessive mileage, abuse, accidents, etc. Usually, the really well cared for cars will demand a higher price, but it's often worth it because you don't inherit the previous owner's problems, which may rely on some expertise to solve. These are great cars, and can be very reliable if not pushed to the edge by the previous owner. Take a look here: http://www.gnttype.org/general/buyguide.html

Friday, February 06, 2004 - 09:38 pm I'm going off of the little window sticker that came with my 86 diecast GN, it says 17mpg city, 25mpg highway. But gas mileage is directly related to the weight of your right foot. Being 19 and a first time TR owner, you'll probably get terrible gas mileage.;)
