What's up guys...nice to be on the list.

Just recently bought an '86 Grand National in great shape for a song! I'm a happy camper. The deal is I'm new to turbo Buick, but not new to turbo cars in general. I've always owned turbo cars.

Here's the deal...My first installs were a good Autometer boost gauge, and an in-car fuel pressure gauge. My next thing to install is a digital EGT meter with a screw-in thermocouple probe. WHERE do I install the thermocouple and WHAT temperatures should I be looking for at WOT?

I do also have a laptop...so where is the software that you guys would suggest?

Sorry about the newbies long post! hehe

Welcome to the Dark Side! :)

As far as thermocouples, most put it in the header just before the turbo (opposite the O2 sensor). With one of Steve Chulpsa's (EXCELLENT) fast acting thermocouples, you should see in the 1600-1650 range. The numbers are approximate and should be used in conjunction with scan tool numbers to zero in on the numbers your car likes.

Take a gander at: http://www.turbo-link.com and look through the COMPARISON chart. This gives you a run down of most of the popular scan tools for the TRs.
