Bruce Baldwin (Bkbaldwin) | Wednesday, April 17, 2002 - 06:03 am I've got a '87 GN that has started running like crap. It basically sputters and dies just about every time I put it in gear. I can start it up and eventually the SES light comes on and then it runs fine in back up mode. I have replaced the ign module, coil pack, plug wires and plugs and none of these has helped. Any ideas as to what is going on here ??? |
Ken Mosher (Kenmosher) | Wednesday, April 17, 2002 - 07:43 am What's the code stored when the SES light lights? Some possibilites: - Bad MAF - Bad Ground (check coil pack mounting) - Loose harness on the ECM |
Bruce Baldwin (Bkbaldwin) | Wednesday, April 17, 2002 - 08:58 am I get code 42 set. I have already tried disconnecting the MAF and can tell a big difference when it's disconnected. I have removed the ignition module harness and it looks OK. I'll check the coil pack and ECM harness tonight. This problem has gradually gotten worse over the past month or so which makes me think it's a connection problem somewhere but I haven't been able to pin down where yet. Thanks for the reply. |
Bruce Baldwin (Bkbaldwin) | Thursday, April 18, 2002 - 02:57 pm I have fixed my problem !!!! The two nuts on the bracket that secures the ign module and coil pack down were loose. After I tightened them down the car runs like a champ. Thanks for the help Ken. Your suggestion above led me to the fix. |
