Working on an 87 GN and 87 Regal.
A) The coil pack was replaced on the GN. The replacement had the coils marked opposite of the original. (The coils in the GN and Regal are both oriented the same.) The car didn't fire. The coil section was unbolted and swapped around (180'). The car does not start.
Do the 86-87 coils have different spark plug wire orientations? Has anyone else seen these coils marked backwards? (I'm wondering who is wrong, them or me.)
B) I went looking at the online schematic's for the coil pack connections. I could not locate them. (When printed, they are not legable.)
Does anybody know what page I'm looking for? Link to that page?
C) The coil pack from the Regal was swapped into the GN, then swapped back. They are mixed up now. I don't know which is in the Regal. (I didn't do this part.) The Tach in the Regal, now shows 2000RPM @ idle.
I'm wondering if there is a connection issue here. Any reason why the tach should read wrong? Is there an in-line filter to the dash tach?
D) A schematic would be a big help here. Can anyone forward me a copy of an 87 ignition section?
