First time here. Great web-site. Just started the spring cleaning on my 87 GN and forgot which wires for the spark plugs went where on the coil. I checked the GM manuals and can't find them. The guys at the dealerships just referred me to Chiltons, which I don't want to buy for just the diagram. If anyone knows the order, I would greatly appreciate it so I can start my bad boy up and listen to him purrrrrrrrrr. Thanks!
The numbers should be marked on the coil itself just next to the terminals. If you can't see that, then if you're leaning against the passenger fender looking at the coil, the order is:
Firewall side (towards the back of the car)- 5,3,1 (5 being the post closest to you when leaning against the passenger fender)
Intake Side - 2,4,6 (posts closest to the front of the car)
Or - looking at the motor from the front of the car, the frontmost cylinder closest to the intercooler on the drivers side is #1, then the frontmost closest to the intercooler on the passenger side is #2, then #3 on the drivers side, then #4, etc.

If you're standing in front of the car with the hood up:
Drivers side: First wire(closest to you)= #1
Second " (middle)= #3
Third " (near coilpack) #5
Pass. side: First = #2
Second =#4
Third = #6
The coilpack is numbered as I'm sure you're aware of. HTH

I see nothing wrong with our answers above. :confused: The coilpack is numbered, so if you hook the wires up to the correct plugs, plugging them on the coilpack is a no-brainer. We simply gave him the firing order to make it easier.
