I need to know what is the rating on the stock balast resistor for the low speed fan circiut.Mine broke and I just wired it without one and it burns up the wires because of the amp draw. I have a a chip that turns on the fan @160 so my fan runs alot,plus I use the AC and that turns it on too. My wife drove the car and overheated it when it broke!!!Almost locked up the engine.......help please.
I ran a switch to short out the resistor so the fan would run at high speed all the time during the summer. Didn't have any problem with the wires burning up, this 2-3 years ago. I suspect the motor is drawing too much current, or there are some bad connections. The resistor dissipates the extra energy that drops the fan to low speed as heat, so the total current draw isn't that different, as I understand it.
