Help....., So I turned the ignition to ON without cranking the motor and I had power for about 1 second, then nothing... None of the interior or exterior lights come on, the car will not crank, there's no clicking, nothing. I checked all of the fuses and they all look good. The car has around 110,000 miles on it, anyone have any thoughts...? Let me know if you need any further info,

Thanks,
Ron K.

Well - get that voltmeter goin, and start at the battery. :) Check the starter too, and check for 12V at the fusebox..etc.

I would look for a blown fusible link down by the starter. There are three of them as I recall.

I've got 12.54V at the battery, if I'm checking the altenator and fuse box correctly I've got 4.8mv at the alternator and 4.3mv at the fusebox.

I'll check the starter in a few minutes.

Thanks for the help Jay and Hal.

I jacked the car up and crawled underneath on the COLD concrete and checked the starter it was at 7.4mv. Then I figured why don't I just wiggle the battery cable connection! Low and behold I got power and the car started right up. It always turns out to be the things that you know you should check first but for whatever reason your like, "that can't be it". At least that's how it is with me. It's just weird that I had power for a second and then it went dead, so I assumed it was a fuse, go figure.

Jay and Hal, thanks again.

ahh..nice & simple, and best of all - FREE!

In case you didn't check - make sure the cable isn't grounding out against the exhaust or is frayed anywhere that might getcha while on the road. If it was just a loose connection, then you're okay but you want to make sure it wasn't touching anything since that does happen to some people. :)

Anyway - good job, now go beat the heck out of her for scaring you like that! ;)
