marc a. amante (Marcsnewride) | Thursday, January 02, 2003 - 07:52 am I think I have ruined my MAF sensor & am unsure of which way to go for repairs. I recently re-located my Vapor canistor & Maf when I installed a home built ram air assembly. The car was running strong for about 250 miles after I did this & installed a new warbo 340 fuel pump. I was on the xway crusing at 70mph when the car started to slow down & it seemed to me it was running out of fuel. I stopped & checked all the fuel system for leaks [though a line might have came off] & all ok. I drove home on sideroads & the car ran smooth as long as I went 25mph. I used a friends tester & code #34 was on. The meter showed 6gpm & I guess this is the "limp home mode" From all that I have seen in the discussion group that the replacement MAF sensors are not much good. I checked around & found that Poston's has a Tomco unit for $94 & ATR has one for $279. I called RAMCHARGERS & checked on the LS1 & translator option. So, the big question is which way is the best option for a street car. I have new 42lb Delphi injectors I had planed on installing this winter but I'm not happy with having to make all these changes at one time. Ramchargers said they could burn me a new chip that would take advantage of all new modifications at once. I'd like some feed back from the group. Is the "translator plus" & chip the way to go? Sorry this is so long but I really am getting over my head on all these options. Thanks in advance for your inpuit!!! |

Most recomend to go w/the translator/Lt1 from Ramchargers. I did get 1 good lead on a "stock" Maf from a supplier that tests his units & are reported as being reliable. I'll post my results for the group later. BUICKS RULE! |
