Eric Newman (84gnpower) | Wednesday, July 11, 2001 - 07:11 pm I have reason to believe that my cam sensor cap is damaged and needs to be replaced. In order to make sure is there any way that I can check it to make sure, like with a DVOM or etc?? |
Ken Mosher (Kenmosher) | Friday, July 13, 2001 - 10:02 am Nothing very easy... you can back probe the blue wire and spin it and watch for a transition from ~7 volts to 0 as the window goes by the pickup. Unfortunately, it won't tell you if the window has moved or the sensor is erratic (unless you have an O scope and can watch the waveform). |

Ken Mosher (Kenmosher) | Sunday, July 15, 2001 - 06:12 pm Sounds like it isn't working then... theres a little window in the shaft that spins around and as it passes the sensor (part of the cap), it'll trigger the voltage to change. It happens pretty quickly, so you need to make sure your DVM is quick enough to detect the change or slowly rotate the sensor by hand (has to be out of the hole to do that). |
