hey all, i got a basically stock grand national about a month ago, did the spring cleaning and went ahead and got a new fuel pump, hotwire kit, and hooker cat back(the stock exhaust had rusted through) Anyway I also got turoblink to tune it before I did any other mods. Now turbolink reads it as running rich whenever I floor it, and kind of floats back and forth under normal driving, and it reads the temp as being 160-170, the guy said it had a 160 thermostat in it. But, when flooring it, im getting 6 degrees of knock at the top of first and second! The console vdo gauge says the temp is more like 180-200, I was wondering if maybe a coolant temp sensor is bad, and the thermostat is kicking on too late, and why do I have this much knock? is it normal for these cars when this close to stock? Sorry about the long post, and thanks for any help. Oh Yeah, the car did have an old hypertech chip in it, I replaced it with what I believe to be the stock chip, it looks plain and had an ac##### code on it. thanks again
There could be MANY reasons causing knock,...
The first thing I would do is make sure your fuel pressure and boost are set correctly (according to chip specs)
Stock chip====28psi fuel pressure @ 14-15lbs boost
If you do not have an adjustible fpr (regulator) GET ONE it is a must!
