I'm looking to add several electric(1 mechanical exterior fuel pressure)gauges. The question I have is do I need to replace the sending units? I have bee looking at autometer and they don't appear to carry electrical sending units as an additional part. Will disconnecting the factory hook up affect the car(other than the idiot lights not working), the car is running a DFI system, does this cause any type of a problem with changing the connections? Any help would be great! I want to get this correct the first time.

Autometer does include sending units with their guages.Whenever I install one I try to t-fit the factory and autometer together so idiot light still works and the new guage at the same time to avoid any problems such as temp guage where as if you disconect it totally your fan wouldnt know what to do or when to come on. As for the oil I believe it doesnt matter although I could be wrong. The fuel is the easiest I usually put a 90 degree fitting off the end of the rail and come back towards firewall with a braided hose and up to underside of hood near the drivers view, leaving enough slack but also making sure when you close hood it does not kink the line in between the weather stripping.Guages like trans temp and egt have their own probes that can go pretty much wherever you want to tap.Just my ideas but someone else might know better.
With your stock oil pressure sending unit......if you disconnect it, the car will not start. It is a safety feature, so to say. Most people just run a "T".
