I just purchased the Buick GN Turbo 6 Tach and wanted to know if anybody else has installed these? I am trying to find the weathertight connector to plug the tach into the "power source ignition module #25500060"? Can anybody help guide me?

Thanks,

Bruce

I think the part number you cited is the old Power Source standalone ignition setup used in racing applications. No reason that tach shouldn't work with the stock system, too.

You should be able to connect this to the tach signal wire, which is a white wire with green connector located behind the AC compressor (on the 86/87 cars, at least) which should not be currently connected to anything.

Scott,

Thanks for the feedback. I have a '87 GN. I looked right behind the A/C compressor which is located under the alternator. Between the valve cover and the alternator is a portion of the wiring harness, but no weathertight connector. Also, the colors on the wiring harness from the tach are black & green for the connection to the ignition module. The other portion of the tach wiring harness that does have a red & white wire is for the +12volt from the battery power (red) and the white is supposed to be for the cluster lighting. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Bruce

The white wire with green adapter should be to the passenger side of the power steering resevoir behind the AC compressor as Scott mentioned. I installed an aftermarket tach and plugged directly into this connection. The wire/adapter should be coming out of the black wiring harness in that area, or maybe it is just down inside the harness wire protector. Tim Roark (troar@tigerpaw.com)
