i could use any suggestions on why my ecm fuse keeps blowing which in turns completly shuts my car off. my car seems to be studdering alot when i accelerate and then sometimes blow that fuse. The first time it happened was right after i washed my car. Then the next time as i was accelerated from a stop. And the third time(yesterday) after i washed and waxed it i took it for a spin and about 5 min into it after accelerating from a stop it went again but this time when i put a new fuse in as soon as i turned the key on it would blow. so i let it set in a parking lot a hour or soon cam back and it started right up. Im lost.Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Fred

By any chance did you remove the weather strip at the back of your hood? It sounds like you may have a short caused by the water. I would make sure that everything under the hood is dry, especially around the coil pack and where the harness goes into the module. Or....maybe your heater box drain is plugged up with dirt and gunk, and you are causing it to rain on your ECM every time that you wash the car. If it isn't either of these, then you are going to have to chase down and look for a chaffed wire or short somewhere. Good Luck.

I had this problem intermittently for years. I finally found that the wire to the ignition module for the 7.5 amp fuse (may be pink colored) was tight and rubbing on a tube or bracket on the left side of the engine. Once I repaired the insulation and put some slack in the wire, the problem disappeared.
