Dale Cramer (Peelerboy) | Thursday, December 06, 2001 - 08:12 pm The windshield washer fluid refuses to pump out on my `87 GN. Where is this thing? Is it contained within the wiper motor itself, or what? All aspects of the wipers work fine except for the washer feature. I can here a "click" sound when I rotate the wiper control forward in an attempt to get the fluid pumping, but no actual motor sound. Where should I check first? Help! |
Bob Dawson (Biasbob) | Friday, December 07, 2001 - 06:45 am The pump is mounted in the motor assy, it's a cylindrical pump held in with a little clip and a rubber o ring. Replacement pumps are available at just about any auto parts store, complete with a new clip and easy directions to install. Takes about 10 minutes. Bob Dawson (Biasbob) | Friday, December 21, 2001 - 05:29 am I don't remember having a problem finding the clip, but I bought the replacement pump before I tried to remove it, so when you have the new one in your hand, it's easy to see where the clip is. I do think I ended up destroying the original clip getting it out, guess that's why they include a new one. I think I remember it slides out radialy from the pump, if that helps. I used a little pair of diagonal cutters to grab the little tab and just yanked the dang thing out. Good luck. Bob Dawson 87GN 96SS |
