The bare nipple is on a sensor that's mounted to the right valve cover at the lower/middle of the picture. Thanks!! http://www.qix.net/~peelerboy/gnengvac.jpg

| | Friday, December 07, 2001 - 02:48 pm Don't panic there Dale. There is supposed to be a foam filter on there to keep out dust. It is the air bleed hole for your wastegate actuator control. TTTT, it isn't necessary.

| | Friday, December 07, 2001 - 07:37 pm So, uh... guys? I guess I shouldn't have capped it then? I thought I might have been losing vacuum through it! Just out of curiousity, what am I hindering by having it capped, as compared to open like it should be?

| | Sunday, December 09, 2001 - 08:42 pm Hey guys, thanks a bunch for your great replies. I have since fabricated small foam filter for this open orifice. After uncapping the the nipple and installing the filter, the car seems to spool up quicker and it definitely runs harder. Although now, almost immediately following hitting second gear, the car sort of "chokes" or hesitates for a split second before raging on with more good performance. As I continue to ride out second gear there will be at least one or two more of these blips in an otherwise healthy & steady flow of g's. (it accellerates very nicely with the exception of these "hiccups"). It would almost give you the impression of the car running out of gas? Bear in mind that the drivetrain in this car has about 12k miles on it (stock rebuild) in a 230k mile body. I'm only mentioning this as a reminder that any number of things could be giving up/going out. Any suggestions of where to start looking?
