Hey everyone.....On and off I've heard that people used to disconnect the cam sensor before a run, whats the advantage to doing this.....and does anyone still do it?

Thanks- John

Another thing.....I have an AutoMeter air/fuel ratio gauge. I went to go hook it up and instead of having to run a wire from the gauge all the way down to the O2 sensor itself, I tried to hook it into the signal wire right before the computer, but every time I pluged it in the car would run like crap. Whats wrong with this picture?! Do I have to tap directly into the wires on the O2? Also, any insite into my cam sensor question would be greatly apreciated as well.

Thanks!- John

The cam sensor trick just makes the computer fire all the injectors at once (for the half the period) instead of firing each injector individually. Sometimes it will help diagnose a cam sensor problem or a problem with an injector flowing too little.

It really delivers the same amount of fuel, so no real performance advantage.

As far as the O2 sensor ... sounds like the meter may not be providing the right load on the circuit. Maybe the meter is bad or you've got the wrong wire?
