Well, another day, another problem. I just got my GN and I'm trying to get everything in order but the car seems to be fighting me. I first found that the previous owner had installed the restrictor y incorrectly and that that was the cause of my boost problem. However, other problems have yet to be remedied. I have had problems with cold stats and the car. Every time the car got cold the nest time I drove it there was a kinda stumble and hesitation off idle when you first accelerated. The problem usually went away by the time I got around the corner in the car and I initially thought that possibly my tps was going bad. I also had a problem with a miss at idle and had attributed this to old plugs and wires. Yesterday I changed my wastegate solenoid because the little sponge was broke off and my o2 sensor just for good measure. The car ran fine all night. This morning I got up, went to work and had my usual problem of hesitation but it went away just as usual. About 8 hours later I came home in the car and had the same problem, except this time it didn't go away. All the way to my home every time I pressed the gas I got hesitation. So I decided that the ignition system was probably to blame so I moved up my weekend activity of changing the coil pack, plugs, and wires to today. After a few hours I had finished and now my misfire is gone but the hesitation remains. I then hooked up turbo link and now I getting a code 44 exhaust lean condition at idle. What could be causing this? Could it possibly be a collapsed fuel sock? How can find out?

I had the opposite last week code 45 rich condition. If you have a friend with a TR switch
MAF and see if the problem goes away. If it does
than you know it's a bad MAF. Also you might want
to clean your IAC

I don't know anyone else with a TR or a GN. Is there a way to test the MAF? I was planning on upgrading to the 96 impala MAF but I pressed for cash right now.

Joe, You need to do a "spring cleaning" if you haven't already. I strongly suggest you first change back to your old O2 sensor and see what happens. Additionally, use the IAC / Min air rate cleaning and reset procedure in the tech pages to be sure it's not that. You can check your MAF by idling the car and GENTLY tapping the MAF with a screwdriver handle to see if it stumbles at all. Not fool proof but if it stumbles then you know for sure the MAF is bad. Look for an intake air leak in the MAF-Turbo hose or a vacuum leak also. Good luck!

Also on the MAF if the tapping don't work then
disconnect the MAF with car running the lean condition should go away. The car should idle normal and switch from rich/lean on tblink. If
this happens it's the MAF. Reset your computer
because more codes will appear.

I alredy completed the spring cleaning. I'm having trouble getting the car to idle now but after a little time the car finally started to idle normally. Tapping the maf had no effect. If I disconnect the maf the exhaust lean code dissapears and the car idles fine but if I press the gas I still have the same problem? Is this normal for the maf being disconnected or should I continue to trouble shoot looking for the problem? Also, if anyone in the philadelphia area would be willing to lend me their maf for a little while to test my car I would greatly appericate it. I can drive to meet you. If anyone can help me out e-mail me at joe@jonnyballs.com

When you disconnect the MAF you're not suspose to
step on the gas.Read the above again.

I'd like to thank everyone who has posted and everyone who helps maintain the board. Without this site I'd be lost. After looking a the tlink data I've decided that my maf is probally bad. I've made the ecm files available so if you get a chance, take a look and tell me what you think. I've begun the process of finding a low cost working maf for my car and hopefully by the end of the weekend I will have the new maf. Again I'd like to thank everyone for their help. The files are at:

Thanks Again

Well, I installed the new maf and no change. I can't be without my car for much longer. If anyone has any other ideas please post, or e-mail me. Thanks

Thanks To everyone who posted. It turns out that my cam sensor was set incorrectly and that was my problem.
