Alright here goes, it is an 85 regal t-type motor in an 85 s-10 and yes it is my daily driver. the symptoms i am having is- low boost (10 psi not 12), no power at all, surges at high speeds, when started after sitting wants to stall, runs real rich and smokes black when under boost and stinks.
So i bought a used otc 2000 and here is what i come up with. These are all at idle with the truck running and warmed up in park.
LED LIGHTS ON- closed, rich and lean alternating.
RPM: 950-1025 Coolant temp: 82
PROM ID: 7058 TROUBLE CODES: no
O2 VOLTS: .07-.86 O2 CROSS COUNTS: 1-6
EGR: off TPS: .40
VSS: 000 3RD GEAR SWITCH: On
4TH GEAR SW: on IAC: 6-13
KNOCK: no POWER STEERING: norm
BLOCK LEARN: 150 INTEGRATOR:.37
MAT:6-8 FAN: 26-31
CLEAR FLOOD: off SELECTED DIAG STATE: 8al/ off
CRANK RPM: 950-1025 O2
02 VOLTS:.50-.84 INTEGRATOR:128-134
COOLANT TMP: 90 SPARK ADVANCE:26-34
KNOCK SIG: no
Any help is very greatly appreciated, this message board has helped with many of my problems that i have had with my truck, and everyone said that i should get a scan tool but now im stuck so please help. Also does anyone know how i can get a bigger screen to hook up to the terminal so that i can use the pathfinder system???

OK, a couple things ... is the OTC reading Celsius degrees? If not, the coolant temp is completely whacked.

BLMs are way to high (check for inadequate fuel pressure, exhaust leak, bad O2).

3&4th gear switchs ON is a problem with wiring or the trans.

MAT 6-8 sounds fishy... are you sure it isn't MAF? If it is MAT, it's really screwed up.

The DIAG STATE seems to indicate that it's in ALDL mode, which will screw up the idle (make it about 1000 RPM, which is consistent with the Crank RPM later). You need to put it in NORMAL mode (usually F1 and 9, if I remember right?)

SPARK ADVANCE again indicates the vehicle is in ALDL/ALCL mode and not NORMAL mode which will futz with the idle.

KNOCK SIG. just is saying there's no knock (to be expected.
