| | Friday, July 19, 2002 - 05:26 am Jason, congrats on the car. Here's a link to Thrasher website: http://www.thrasherchips.com/ Thrasher's site does advise having an adjustable fuel pressure regulator along with the chip itself. I do know that they tell you to set the fuel pressure at 45psi. That's why you apparantly need the regulator along w/ the chip. You shouldn't have a problem getting a good deal on a regulator. Even new ones are usually under $100. You are doing the right thing by asking questions before adding a bunch of stuff. These cars really respond well to simple, basic mods. Just take your time & do not hesitate asking for advice. We all need each other to learn from. HTH ![]()

| | Friday, July 19, 2002 - 05:35 am To be able to use the Thrasher chip you have to run at 45# of fuel pressure (Static). The stock setup will not work. You will have to upgrade your fuel pump and get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Also you need fuel pressure and boost gauges to be able to tune it after doing any mods.Hope this helps,Curt.

| | Friday, July 19, 2002 - 07:35 am Our own listmembers, Scott Simpson, Rob Wilson, and Russ Salerno are Thrasher distributors, and they actually support the chip. The website mentioned above is primarily for the FWD supercharged Buicks and don't offer support for the Thrasher chip anymore. Just a fyi

| | Friday, July 19, 2002 - 10:17 am Curt, no apology necessary. Dwight, thanks for the info. I was not aware of that. I personally have never used a Thrasher chip, but they are very popular in the TR community.

| | Thursday, September 19, 2002 - 06:34 pm curt I'm in the same position as Jason how much should I expect to spend for upgraded fuel pump & an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? also i was told i could get more speed & keep my buick stock by getting a bigger downpipe, changing to a flow master exaust system, (i'm thinking of double duels)& sending more volts to my fuel pump is this true?

| | Monday, September 23, 2002 - 05:33 am Hey Mark, what are you running at the track? My combo is almost identical to yours and I'm just curious what you're running. My best is a 13.4 @ 102 at 18psi on 94 octane. I think I was kind of lean though, but my pro-touring suspension set-up killed my 60' times (~2.1). Thanks, Sean 87 GN - 13k miles, cold air intake, Hemco plenum, ATR exhaust w/o cat, H.W. Walbro 307, AFPR, stock everything else

| | Wednesday, September 25, 2002 - 08:00 pm Actually, I have never ran mine at the track. I do know that the Thrasher chip increased my boost by a few lbs. over the stock chip, and I could also tell there was more boost with the exhaust and cold air mods too. My plan is to get the boost sensing harness and a boost gauge next. I have a couple of WOT blasts from 5 mph to ~90 mph recorded on my Turbo-link, all the numbers look good with 0.4 KR on one run, slightly up hill, and 0.0 on the other, level ground. I'm sure my track times would suck because I am very traction limited, I only have 225/60 Gatorbacks all around. I know this much, once I get traction, the GN flies right by my Corvette, which only spins a little on launch. I owe much of that to the 16+ pounds of boost in 3rd gear! No more mods for me until I can see exactly how much boost I am running :-)
