I have a 87 GN, just completely rebuilt the engine, when I put it back in it didn't run right, seemed like lack of feul, so i sent the injectors to get rebuilt, came back, same problem, smoking black and idling REALLY rough, I changed the o2 sensor and it seemed to get better, not as much black smoke, now my problem is that I have very rough idle, its not stable, ist going up and down and has a miss. I took it for a drive and when it hits around 2600 rmp it dies out and gets nothing over that, i replaces temperature sensors and i have a adjustable feul pressure regulator, have it set at 30 psi, any more then this and the problem gets worse, more black smoke etc, any less, i put it in drive and it cuts out.
Im using stock injectors, new coil pack and module, feul pump, and rebuilt engine. Cam Sensor is set up properly as far as i can tell..
someone please help!

Make sure sparkplug wires are connected to coil correctly. How did you adjust the cam sensor?

The wires are connected properly, and getting loads of spark...

I followed the directions on this site on how to set the cam sensor, its possible that i may have did it wrong... set it to TDC and put the volt meter on the B wire, and moved the cam sensor until the meter read 0 well.. its 0.02 ... seem right?

Make sure the cam sensor isn't in 180 degrees out. A quick check is if the wires on the cap don't face towards the driver's side front of the car, then it's probably in backwards.

Well... as far as I cam rememeber, it is facing towards the front of the car, maybe it is 180 degrees off ... would i have to take the whole timing cover off to do this??? I may be just thinking stupid right now, I've been doing this straight for the last week, until 1 am in the morning and going to work at 7, so my brain isnt functioning right.. haha..

Nope, just pull the sensor out, turn it 180 degrees and then do the reset procedure again.

Ed, I realize you're tired, but from Ken's instruction on cam sensor setting...did you rotate the motor to 25* after tdc with the piece of measured tape (you said top dead center in your post) and get the sensor to drop voltage from the correct direction?

It's pretty easy to check so I thought it was worth mentioning.
