Mick Blankenship (Buickgn38sfi) | Wednesday, December 04, 2002 - 05:03 pm For some odd reason my buick shakes as if it is missing on a cylinder when you first start up cold,...then runs great after warm up,...any ideas? I tried replacing the plugs,..... |
John Estill (Jdestill) | Thursday, December 05, 2002 - 09:44 am Mine did that until I swapped some new injectors in place of the old stockers. Tried all kinds of injector cleaners to no avail. Never sent them off to get them professionally cleaned, that might have done the trick. John |
Phil Aubrey (Paubrey) | Thursday, December 05, 2002 - 06:18 pm A lot of stock ones do that. It was not a warrenty consern when I was with Buick. Nature of the beast. |

Myke (Radiumyke) | Saturday, July 26, 2003 - 10:25 pm My 87 GN idles rough, needs to be nursed at low rpms for about 6 blocks. Run ok at high rpms. The problem started when I replaced the PROM. The service engine light had come on, and the engine started idling at 2000 rpm. I found a scan tool, which read a trouble code 23 and 51. 23 the MAT sensor didn't do anything. I took a PROM out of the ECM that read "Bulldog", put in one that I found in the car that appeared to be a stock PROM. The idle went back to normal, the service engine light is off. Now, it idles terrible until it is warm, then it runs fine. This problem started with the replacement of the PROM. Maybe it isn't a stock PROM, didn't have any General Motors markings on it. The other one I found in the car had handwritten info on it. It read Boost with an up arrow. Knew that wasn't stock. What kind of information is on a stock PROM? Maybe I have installed one that needs bigger injectors. Should I just purchase a new stock PROM and see if that cures the idling problem? It has always been "cold blooded" thought that may be what turbo buicks are, but this is different then it was before the different PROM. |
