| | Saturday, July 07, 2001 - 06:55 pm Hello all I have just installed some new equiptment, Red armstrong street 17psi chip, xp fuel pump and adjustable regulater. It has taken away a problem I had with my boost dropping to 12 psi in 3rd gear "it was the chip weird, " but I'm getting a weird surge when It shifts 1st gear gets less boost like 15 then 2nd somtimes surges to 19 then back to 17 "where its supposed to be" and 3rd will surge back and forth somtimes from 15 to 17 and you can feel it anyone ever seen this ? I am running stock block ,heads, only add on's are what ive said and some small tricks, I'm running 94 octain with 104 booster, and i ask becuse i dont have my scantool running yet I cant tell if im lean or not tnx all ... ps ihave a small crack in the notorius header spot

| | Tuesday, July 10, 2001 - 09:53 pm Well I found the problem, I threw away the cat and what do ya know! 1 and a half more psi and steady,I alighned the hoses to meet better on the up pipe and got another pound,turned it down to 17 psi and WOW! what a difference the cat makes. I havent been to the track since, but I've been racing other cars for a long time and I'm willing to bet I've gained 3 to 4 tenths and 4 mph because of the difference between 12 psi in 3rd compared to 17 psi, and it can breath tnx cya

| | Wednesday, July 11, 2001 - 11:12 pm Well it looks like I might be talking to myself...lol but its cool! because today is wednsday and that means test and toon at milan dragway.... well last time I was there 2 weeks ago I ran a 14.30 @96mph. since i did what i said in the 2 previous messages. I went today and hit a 13.47@102mph!!! with nothing more then scapping the kb chip and using the Red armstong 93 the red armstrong xp pump and regulater,, thats it! nothing else!oh yeah I cut the cat to that did help alot. Bye the way that was with street radials and a 2.12 60 foot so still a little room to move there with slicks. Next week, 110 octain and 19 psi, and better tires well see if I can hitsud 13s, asking alot, but then again I was only asking for 13 80s today woooooo hooooo!!

| | Friday, July 13, 2001 - 11:48 am Tnx! the cat seemed normal to me when it came off, alot had to do with that 3rd gear drop in psi, I ran eveything the way it is now ,but with the kb chip on the street and it still drops in 3rd gear to 12 or 13 psi...go figure. Wierd thing is I had a kb chip in my 84 gn a few years back and had a simmaler problem I've tryed 110 octain with the same results. ill bb at the track next week and ill try both chips and see the difference and ill post them for you, but yes all in all the cat did seem to be the biggest releif on the moter, even with the red chip in 3rd gear it would bounce between 15 and 17 psi (problebly choked bye the cat) well see next wed. i still cant beleive 9 tenths,,, wow! but in all fairness the track has much better conditions dry and 78 compared to 100% humidity and 90 the first time and they vht'd the track my 60's was 2 tenths better wedensday but the the mph is deffinetly better 102 cya all later
