I am having trouble getting my VDO boost gauge to read more than 12 PSI. I have; adjusted the waste gate rod to within 1/4" thread left, changed the vacuum lines and block, tighted all of the intercooler clamps, flushed the intercooler, added volt booster, XP fuel pump, adj. fuel reg. to 43 lbs, gutted cat, GNX 02 sensor, and Thrasher 100 chip. With all of that I am only realizing 2.3 60' times and at WOT only 12 lbs of boost.
It is my turbo? Do I need a new actuator? I should be turning better than 14.3s I would think. Yet 14.3 on only 10 to 12 PSI boost is not too bad.

There is a real quick way of telling wether this problem is "mechanical" or "Electrical".
To test this do the folowing !!!WITH CAUTION!!!
Disconnect the vacuum line from the "Acctuaor"
Take it around the block and hold her to the floor! but get your foot out of it befor it hits second gear or you WILL kill it!(not to mention it should scare you a bit) you should read anywhere between 22-25 psi boost.
Now,... If you do get killer boost, then one of two things are bad,...
Your Acctuator wich you can take off, dunk it in a bucket of water with some air pressure behind it such as an old valve stem/ vac line and a hose clamp. and it should hold a good 15 psi with NO BUBBLES!
Or, Your "Y" vac line assembly is bad or hooked up incorrectly.
These are not the ONLY possibilities but lets go ahead and try this and see what happens,...But again,...PLEASE BE CAREFUL....You dont wanna hurt your ride!
PS 14.3's are nothing to sneeze at!!!
Thanks, Mick. I changed the accuator. This seems to help. The trick now is to somehow figure out how to keep the intercooler hoses from popping off. I got the wide clamps and even put two clamps at some locations.
Yes, 14.3 is respectable, but when this is accomplished at 10# of boost and I know that 17 is where my chip is progammed I can't help but think the 1/4 miles times would be improved if I could figue out how to get the turbo from 10 to 17 lbs. That has to mean a second in ET I would think? Plus then the chip is doing what it was programmed to do.

The inlet or outlet side? that dont sound right
