Rodney Franko (87gn_Boy) | Sunday, June 29, 2003 - 04:54 pm Ok, I have a 87 GN, with only 55,000 miles on it, and it was running great, untill I decided to try and reset the IAC. Someone really needs to re-write the procedure for that, the one from the manual contradicts the other version, but anyways... I dont think I did it properly, but I put everything back to the way it was. Now, sometimes when I go to start the car, it will start, and then die, because it loses fuel pressure. I stuck the gauge on there and watched it, and it just drops to 0, and then when you try and re-start, it wont, fuel pump wont come on, unless you leave it for a few mins. Other problem is I was driving along on the highway, about 70 mph, and I put the cruise on, and within seconds, the rpms went crazy, and it backfired SO loud that I thought I was going to have to pick up the pieces of my car off the road. Like it was loud, my buddy was behind me, and he said it scared him, and fire blew out my exhaust. So I slowed right down, and pulled over as soon as possible, and nothing was wrong. the car ran fine for the rest of the night. Cars mods are as follows: Walbro 340 pump, hotwired, adj fuel pressure reg, set at 38 vac off, hooker cat back exhaust, and thats about all. It only gives me 1 code, and only when idling for more then 2 mins.. code 44, lean exhaust. But I think thats just the O2 sensor, cause 38 psi should be plenty for the stock chip. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
