I have code 23 in my computer, which is the MAT sensor. I read in the "converting to 86-87 ecm" that I need to install a MAT sensor. It also states in the code section that the computer will use a default setting of 82 degrees. My biggest concern is, I don't have a scan tool yet, and I don't know if this code will prevent my computer from going into closed loop so that I can get the best performance. What is the best way to solve this problem? Also, I have a 160 'stat and water wetter additive, hottest my motor gets is 170 sitting waiting on a train. I just got this car a few months ago and I have yet to open the ECM to see if it has a stock chip in it. This will also prevent the ECM from going into closed loop also, correct? I didn't know how fast this car really was until I had the Trans rebuilt:D now i'm trying to button everything up to improve the looks and value of my white 83TR. (pic in profile I think) One last thing, where can I get a connector that plugs into the Power Window motor switch for the drivers door, the wires on the switch are just wrapped on the little post and shorts out on the door frame. Is a junk yard my best bet? ok, I know this is a big post, But I greatly appreciate all the help you guys have give me over the last 5 months to get my car from 'not running needs interior work' to 'fastest car I've ever driven'. I checked at the local parts store to possibly purchase a MAT sensor, but they want 65 bucks and I have to have a core. I don't have a core so its another 65 bucks...... I will definenately be looking into what should be done, by someone that has done this swap before. Any suggestions?

I think the parts store made a mistake. A MAT temp is cheap and you don't need a core....unless something has drastically changed in availability.

So do I need to wire this sensor in like it tells me in the ecm swap?
