Jeff Parsons (Jpars) | Friday, August 22, 2003 - 05:35 am Last night was sitting at the light next to a 911 when he looked over at me so I punched it. Next thing I know I hit 15 PSI and 1 degree on knock, I hear a pop from under the hood then no boost at all. Good thing I was only ½ mile from home. Got the car in the garage then the engine light came on. I did not have my lap top with me but ran the code real fast with a little cheap scanner. A code 45 come on then the battery light came on. :-/ I checked all the hoses to the intercooler, t-body and the turbo. All hoses were tight. No smoke was coming from the head gasket or out of the breathers. Fuel pressure with vacuum hose off was set right around 45PSI. Set up: TA 49, Lucas 009’s, ATR down pipe, hotwire, volt booster, Walbro 340, adj fuel reg. Hooker exhaust. Cold air intake, PT front mount intercooler, Casper V-3 chip and some other odds and ends. Im not sure what else to look at. I hit the gas and get no boost at all and the car starts to sputter. I just put the fuel pump in last week and the injectors. Anyone have any ideas where to look next? Thanks for the input :o)) |
Mick Blankenship (Buickgn38sfi) | Tuesday, September 02, 2003 - 08:24 am Code 45 means rich mixture,..In my experience 45psi fuel pressure is a little overkill... In any event if you have no boost at all I would start with the following -Acctuator wastegate assembly -wastegate solenoid and "Y" connector hoses -broken wastegate puck or arm -extremely clogged cat. converter -overly loose intake bolts (this happend to me once, took me forever to find) -locked up turbo, intake and charging (both sides) I have seen the intermadiate "shaft" snap befor to where it sounds like it is charging but making no boost. Do not limit yourself to these ideas only, they are just the first things I'd look for. Let us know what you find and we'll go from there! and as always GOOD LUCK! |
Jeff Parsons (Jpars) | Wednesday, September 03, 2003 - 05:06 am thanks Mick for all the help. had a long weekend this week. looked over everything and it ended up being a small vaccum leak over by the turbo. I hate the little things that ya always seem to over look. Thanks again Jeff |
Mick Blankenship (Buickgn38sfi) | Wednesday, September 03, 2003 - 08:34 am Not a problem,.. If you take the time and look back at some of "MY" posts over the last couple years you might get a chuckle or two some of the dumb things Ive delt with. I have had my share of problems,...and your share and his share and her share,...lol Anyhow,..Sometimes you have to hold your head up high and tell yourself "I can do it" with a lot of patience and a "GN-TTYPE" guidence! I stand up and applaud the founders and members of this site! Ive learned more than I could have hoped for! Just be sure you check back as often as you can to see if you may be able to help someone, and or answer someone elses questions. |
Michael Witt (Spooled85gn) | Saturday, January 17, 2004 - 07:55 pm Im having a problem here.. Everything is sealed, we're using a stock turbo with ATR Downpipe/HKS external wastegate. Turbo appears to be spooling (normal Turbo whine), but max boost is 5psi currently.. Im running Walbro 340, 009 injectors, LT1 maf/translator, Comp cam.. Any other ideas, we even tried a stock exhaust housing with good adj. wastegate and still 5 psi... HELP... |
Dean Nelson (Dean) | Wednesday, January 21, 2004 - 11:50 am Can it make more than 5psi with the WG deactivated? (Only try this with exceptionally good gas and just a quick WOT... it can wick up real fast.) Dean |
