Just replaced my stock inj with 38# inj and Lubrant 93 chip. Getting a code 51, rem and replaced chip with orange ecm wire diconnected but it did not help. Car is 87GN, 71k, minor mods, stock turbo and IC. Set fp at 43, vac on is 37. Plug wires, inj wires and chip are in correctly. Car runs but sluggish, overfueling with black smoke and acidic fumes. Prom may be causing ECM to not allow scanmaster to read codes, I only get ver 2.1 flashing then nothing. SES light flashing rapidly and I wire jumped A and B to get the code 51. I have checked the service manual, website and archives with no luck. The archives did mention some chips maintain a code 51. That is about the limit of my knowledge, any ideas? Indications are that the chip is bad. Try removing it and plugging it back in. If it still fails, try another known good chip.
While you have it out take a close look at all the legs of the chip, and see if one them may not be broken off or folded under.
Thanks for the reply. I had already checked the pins, and everything looks ok, so I will send the chip back unless I hear of any other suggestions. They told me I had to run this chip with the new injectors since they were matched. Tim Roark (troar@tigerpaw.com)
