I have Winbin, but it is very incomplete. It has no fields for PE(power enrichment), PE spark advance, MAF calibration tables, among others. What are you guys who burn your own chips using? What do the pros use, or do they just edit in raw hex? Does Tunercat have a good/complete def file?
any help/suggestions appreciated.

I'm just editing the raw hex files with the program that came with my EMP-10 burner. I downloaded the Excel spreadsheet from the GNTTYPE web site that translates all of the hex into english.
I'm sure others have more polished methods...

I got a recomendation of GMEPRO from anouther source and was impressed with it. However, I would still be interested in seeing that excel spreadsheet you spoke of. Could you give me a link to it, or a filename to search for?

I found a few mistakes in the listing (as compared to the 1986/87 stock chip codes that are listed on GNTTYPE), so I modified the spreadsheet and included a column that shows the formulas used to convert from the hex values to the calibration values. If you send me your email address, I'll get that to you.

Michael, since it's my spreadsheet that you're referring to. I suspect there probably were a mistake or two ;-) It's a pretty old iteration, and I've updated it substantially since that one that's on the web page. I've tried submitting a newer version but haven't had much luck.
I'm curious as to why you had to add a column to show the formulas that convert from hex to calibration values, since that's already in the spread sheet. The Hex values are displayed in column B, and the HEX2DEC conversion is done in column C, and then the formula to convert to a "human readable" value are in column D.
Manipulating the hex value in column B will automatically show the corresponding change in column C and D.
Or did I misunderstand?

What you are saying is absolutely correct. What I did was add a column (column "E") that explicitly shows what the formula is. That way, if somebody prints-out a copy, they can see the conversion formula on a printed copy.
As I mentioned, I also updated the hex values in column "B" to be the hex values from the 1986 post-recall chip.
Please don't misunderstand - I am very glad for your work on that, and I'm not trying to trivialize it! I've used that spreadsheet quite a bit, and it' been a blessing. I just added a few enhancements for my own use (I usually work off a printed copy). If anybody else plans to use a printed copy of the spreadsheet, I'd be happy to provide this updated copy.

The last one submitted (and the one that is out there) is dated 9/2/2000. If there's a newer one, it must be lost in Cyberspace, since we'd certainly love to have the updates on the web page!

I have mapped the larger tables based on David's work (David, thank you, thank you, thank you), which I've used for years, by pattern matching, but I really need to change more of the constants than tables.
Regarding a Bin Editor, I developed a VB GUI layered over a host of functional tools that I developed over the years for my own personal use. I would be happy to give it to anyone who wants it. I have used it to modify many, many, many BGN and other GM chips/memcals. It's similar functionally to TunerCat with a few more features thrown in. The ones I use the most are the analysis of 2 bins with output by table in human/dec/hex units. I also have an export feature to text that documents the entire bin and to Excel so that I can take my exported TurboLink recordings and overlay them. Hey it's free and no warranty. :-)
