I just bought a 1987 GN and when I go to wot it pops from a dead stop. It seems to perform better if I dont floor it. Any suggestions where to start?

You need to get a scan tool on the car, along with someone who knows these cars to help understand what it reads. Chances are you are overboosting and detonating, resulting in the timing and boost being reduced by the ECM. Find a knowledgable source to aid in diagnosis before you hurt something.

Could be bad module,coil pack or fuel pressure regulator.Try to find someone with scan tools

Thank You for all the information. Im learning alot. Still waiting for scan machine. Now the car quit running after I PUT MY BOOT INTO IT. it started right up and drove it home, about 2 min. It won't start now. Any ideas? Thank You!

Could be as simple as the fuel filter. Almost the same problem on my 86 GN. At WOT the car would die out at about 4000 RPM. Try to hook up a fuel pressure gauge in such a way were you can read it while your into the boost. Fuel pressure should increase 1 psi for every 1 psi of boost (approx). If not think fuel system. Good Luck.
