DC (Gmfreak) | Wednesday, January 16, 2002 - 02:28 pm I just hooked a snap on scanner to my 86GN it said DIAGNOSTIC MODE, DO NOT DRIVE!! can anyone help me fix this problem. A while ago I tried installing the thrasher chip and every time I tried starting the car I would have to go through the theft procedure, so I reinstalled the old kenne bell chip so I wouldn't have to go through the procedure every time I start the car. |
John Jones (Redline40) | Wednesday, January 16, 2002 - 03:01 pm This is not a problem......You are just in the diagnostic mode on the scanner.....there is another mode for mobile testing. Look around in the scanner, if you can't find it let me know and I'll check a scanner. -John |
DC (Gmfreak) | Wednesday, January 16, 2002 - 09:49 pm John, I see what you are saying about being in diangostic mode rather than the other modes. But I still think there's a problem because I couldn't use the thrasher chip after I went through the theft deterrent procedure. It suppose to work after the first try but each time I try to start the engine I would have to do the theft procedure to get the car started. |
John Jones (Redline40) | Thursday, January 17, 2002 - 06:56 am Are you turning the key completely off.....because the directions for my thrasher chip say that once you do the anti-theft "routine" the car will start over and over agian as long as you don't turn the key all the way off and kill power to the computer. Hope this helps- John |
Brian Lee (Brianwagonlee) | Thursday, January 17, 2002 - 07:52 am That might be in the directions, but I had a problem before. If my car stalled, then I had to turn the key all the way to off, or the "routine" wouldn't work. Car doesn't stall anymore, so I don't have that problem anymore. Brian |
