After receiving my direct scan and customizing my ecm cover I decided to see what this scantool was really about. I must say Im impressed. This is a must for any serious tuner.I have a question about some of the data I recorded while doing a run. Noticed that the BLM block In the lower right corner(the one the computer uses for high engine speed and a high MAF signal) was staying at 108. This would indicate that the ECM considers the engine to be running rich and is trying to force it lean. If this is true how come my O2 reading never fell below 750mv and I only registered two knock counts? Does the ECM disregard the BLM because it is receiving combination of signals from the TPS(WOT), as well as Boost Flag and power and acceleration enrichment. If anybody can help Id appreciate the input.

There are many potential reasons your BLM might be parked at 108. One good thing to check first would be to insure that your chip is calibrated for the size injectors you are running.

The chip I was running is stock and injector size is 30lb/hr.

The WOT blm cell is learned at relatively low speeds ~35-40 mph. It is this cell that is used for WOT fueling, eventhough it does not reflect WOT conditions. Hence, the patch to lock wot blm at 128.

Mike,

Do you have that patch for the wot blm lock? I would be interested to see that.

David

I have a question. How accurate are the horsepower & torque readings on direct scan? I got one recording of 663hp on pump gas and 18# of boost! That can't be right. I have 4 or 5 other recordings that peek out at 562 consistantly. The engine I just rebuilt, gn1 heads, roller cam, stage 5 turbonetics ball bearing turbo ect. I know it's fast, but that fast? no way. Go ahead break my heart.

Not very ... since everything is calculated, a tiny bit of wheel spin, the input weight being off a little, or the tire size being off a little can really throw the numbers off.

I was wondering this too..
I compared Directscans logging during my runs at the track to the timeslip i got. DS is only off by .1 max. Im peaking at 400hp with 538 torque, and i just barely beat a Z06 which has 405hp. My time was 12.82 to his 12.85

The thing is - my peak horsepower/torque was measured right after the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift, so wheelspin isn't a factor. Tire height is 26.1 and vehicle weight is set at 3700lbs.

On mine it seems Directscan is dead-on...but I did have runs where it showed (i wish) 1200HP!!!!

Best advice I could give is to compare the run with an actual timeslip, and compare your time to a known "net horsepower" car like a Camaro, or Mustang that lists it's horsepower all over the place in magazines and stuff. See if it's close with your readings.

I took time off in sept-oct to race the new set up then I'll be able to do that. I had just gotten ds to work(great program)and I was curious. I've done some more tests all of witch are in street trim(18# boost 94octane)50-90 mph in 3.29 sec. from the time ds is triggered t.p.s.300. My hp peeks from 80 to 100 mph in third gear so wheel spin isn't a factor(my car has always hooked well, air bags--you can't say enough about them)The car ran 11.40's before I rebuilt the engine, so I'm looking to pick up atleased 7/10th's. 1000/10th let's see that ads up to.........OUCH! Red armstrong has been awesome getting the chip right. the new engine has a false knock for 2.25 sec.(what a nightmare you think your blowing up the new motor life sucks) Thanks ds. Not to pick on scanmaster but when 20 to 30 deg. knock retard shows up it doesn't tell why, just when.
