Just a quick update on things going on behind the scenes at GNTTYPE.
First, a big welcome and thanks to those of you who've signed up on our new message board. Hundreds have already signed up, and I expect the flow to continue. Despite all the signups, the discussion has been pretty thin so far. Don't be afraid to get out there and use it! I think that this will be a great asset to the site as we go forward.
One thing we've learned from your comments and feedback is that most people really do like the list format. We know that thousands are subscribed to our list and read it daily. We thought that the board would be refreshing change from the 'old' list style we've maintained since 1992. Well...surprise! Not everyone agrees. And that's fine. We needed that feedback to plan our next move. So...we are now working toward integrating the two. We don't want those who prefer one format or the other to miss discussion on the other medium. And we certainly don't want to divide our membership and support into separate groups. So why not run them as a unit? This means seeing board posts on the mail list, and list traffic on the board. The best of both worlds! In the near future you will see this begin to happen. Its not going to be trivial, and we have to do a lot of head scratching to do it right and make sure it works with the quality and integrity you expect from the the services of GNTTYPE.
You may have noticed a few blank messages and some new tags at the bottom of some list posts. These are the result of some new filters we've implemented to help handle the HTML text in messages sent via AOL and Microsoft Outlook tools. It looks like we've got the fine tuning down, and they're working well. This is a HUGE aid in maintaining the list. Thanks to moderator Rich Inacker and listmember Gary Heuston for their work to make this a reality.
I ask that you all join me in giving a big thanks to moderators/webmasters Rich Inacker and Ken Mosher. Rich isn't often seen posting to the list, but his involvement with the site and group runs very deep. A lot of Rich's magic is seen throughout the site, and its key to making the Readers Rides database and other nice features happen. Ken is more visible, and he does a yeoman job of working on site content and insuring no question goes unanswered in the discussion forum or list.
GNTTYPE continues to grow and change, as it always has over the past 9-plus years. Again, thank you for your support and patronage.
