guy newton (Guyn) | Saturday, May 18, 2002 - 08:39 pm Hi guys, just fired up my '84 Gn today, when I parked last fall I thought I was having tranny problems and had to have it towed home, today the car ran fine and the tranny worked well but after I left the car sit at idle for 45 min to recharge the battery, the front brakes were locked solid, the rear wheel were free and tore up the gravel in the driveway but the car would not move. i shut the car down an let it sit for an hour , disconected the vaccum line at the top of the booster and the car would move but the front brakes remained partially engaged as when in gear it still needed to have some gas before it would roll in gear.Is it my booster , any ideas would be greatly appeciated.Guy Newton |
Mike Gloff (Mgloff) | Sunday, May 19, 2002 - 08:08 am Guy, I would suspect the calipers before the booster. Take the wheels off and open up the bleeders to try to relieve any built up pressure. If that doesn't help the situation you may need new calipers. When cars sit for a while it would not be uncommon for the piston in the caliper to 'freeze' to the bore. Calipers are pretty cheap anyway. HTH Mike Gloff |
