Bill Ritter (18yognnut) | Saturday, July 06, 2002 - 09:47 am Sorry this is so long: My factory driver side exhaust header has a leak. After reading some articles in the technical section I am assuming that it has developed the "infamous header crack", although i cannot visually see any signs it. I read through some previous posts on this topic and saw that some people take the header off and send it out to someone to weld it up. But this would be a problem for me since it is my daily driver. Could I replace the factory header with a Poston header, or a ported stainless header from one of the vendors? or would this create problems with the turbo building boost? my car is close to stock, with the typical upgrades (XP pump,Blue tops, adj. FP reg., cold air intake, etc.) and runs mid to low 13's. Thanks in advance! |
Russell Merritt (Guss) | Saturday, July 06, 2002 - 02:12 pm Yep, ATR sells a stock replacement stainless d.s. header. Part # rp332ds 269.95$ I'm not sure if the poston one will fit the existing cross over/ header |
frank marshall (Turbofrank) | Saturday, July 06, 2002 - 03:39 pm Any good exhaust shop should be able to repair a cracked header for about $100-125. Yes they are a problem but any experienced turbo owner will keep a spare on hand. |
