I have a similar question to one someone recently posted. I have a STOCK turbo and have an exhaust leak between the turbo and exhaust manifold , it has a gasket , but it moves freely back and forth and looks to be in rough shape. I have attempted to tighten the bolts , but it doesn't seem to help. Can I use that gasket that Cotton's has or is that for an aftermarket turbo only? What's the easiest way to install , by removing the header or the turbo?
Thanks,

Remove the header the gasket that cotton sell should work give him a call to be on the safe side. When you loosen the bolts to the turbo if the studs come out with the nuts you may not need
to mess with the header. That is if all the gasket
slides out in one piece. You don't want to leave
any old gasket around.

It had a copper gasket in it, it slid out no problem. I attempted to bolt it together without a gasket, seemed tighter , but still leaked. It seems the surfaces are no longer perfectly flat. I ordered that gasket someone else suggested from Cotton's so hopefully that will help.
thanks

I got the gasket from Cotton's and it didn't seem to help my leak from the exhaust header to the turbo. Apparantly the header and turbo surfaces are not very flat at all, so I really need a little more flexible gasket to fill in the imperfections. I thought someone had mentioned a more forgiving gasket that would work, but just not last as long as the copper , anyone know where I can can my hands on something like this.
thanks

Scott, I have some material used to make big (15L) diesel engine exhaust manifold gaskets. It's good to about 1600F...graphite both sides molded over a steel honeycomb interior...about .030" thick and very flexible.

Send me your address and I'll cut a rectangle of it and send to you. You can cut it into your own gasket. I've never used it on my own car, but think it should work if you keep the inside edges clean and back away from the exhaust flow.
