In the MAF sensor there are 2 screens. Will it hurt anything if I take out BOTH of these screens instead of just one? I dont know if you need to know my combo to answer this so here it is. I have 009's, TA49, ATR cold air intake, stainless MAF pipe, 3in THDP, and other various mods.

I think that the consensus is to only remove the screen AFTER the sensor.

Removing both screens will generally give you a wandering idle and other problems. The sensor really doesn't work too well without them. I know someone will chime in that their car works fine without, but most cars are rather sensitive to running without screens.

There have been chip calibrations made to work OK without screens, and even some to work without the MAF as a speed/density system more recently, of course.

As to 'which' one to remove...aren't both ahead of the MAF in a 'stacked' configuration? At least this is what I recall about the 86/87 cars.

Yes Scott, on my 87GN both of the screens are before the MAF.

Sorry for piping up so late, but what benefit is there for removing one of the screens?
