I have bought an 83 t type, which has been changed to an 87 motor and efi/turbo setup. I test drove it yesterday, it ran ok, then i bought it and brought it home. Later on in the evening, I take it for a spin, get on it pretty good, spin the tires. Now I have a problem with the idle running up to 2500 at start up, then steadily dropping til it dies, Unless I get my foot on the gas I can keep it running. Also it has some stuttering in the 3800 to 4500 rpm range, I think these 2 problems are linked together somehow. I am new to this EFI turbo setup, someone please help me out. I have added a pic of My New Ride in my profile if anyone would like to view the car. Thank you.

I agree with Frank, when I first bought my car, it ran great. On the way home after spinning the tires once, it started to run like total crap. It wouldn't go over 35mph, too much pedal and it would die. After about 10 minutes staring at everything under the hood at 1am, still 5 hours from home, I finally saw that the upper hose on the inlet pipe had just barely come off. I put it back on and it ran great.

And don't forget the scantool, you need one of those to help tune the car. It really helps being able to see what's going on with these cars. Good luck

I had a feeling it could be a vacuum hose, so I looked up and down everything and only found a small hose off, on the passenger side valve cover, it runs up to the throttle body, it looks as though it has been off for a while (snapped off actually) from the block/switch that is mounted to the valve cover. What is this switch or sensor? Thanks for all the help guys, I really want to get this car road worthy FAST! Its getting nice out!

I guess I was looking for too small of a hose to be off. Because I found that the hose from the intercooler to the throttle body was off just enough to make the whole setup bad. So I bought some new clamps and realigned the hose, I have the chrome pipe that the previous owner had already installed. He must not of got it on good enough, because now it RUNS twice as good as it did when i test drove it, So i am really happy with my car! Next time I'll look for more obvious reasons why the car won't run right, cause now i'll find the next weekest link,. How easy is it to install an aftermarket Boost gauge on the A Pillar? and also a Fuel press gauge on the hood? thanks guys.
