I'm putting a t60 turbo in my 87 gn, and the new turbo has no fitting for the hole for the vac line that has a y fitting to the wastegate actuator and the compressor side of the turbo can I block this off or what, and if it's not O.K. to block off what do I do?!?!

Thanks!!!!

no you cant block that line off. that is where your boost signal comes from that opens and closes the wastegate. the system works by one side of the Y has "boost" on it. the boost is ran through the stock E.B.C. (electronic boost controller) under a low boost situation the boost pressure runs in and out of this solenoid--through that filter on the other side of the EBC. when the boost is to the limit as specified by the ECU the solenoid closes and this in turn re-routes the boost to open the wastegate. without this line hooked up properly you will overboost. you can tap into another port to get your pressure. hope this helps.

never mind that last post it was wrong. i was thiking about a different style ebc. the boost line that is hooked up to the stock soenoid holds the boost until it is too high and then it lets the air vent to atmosphere. when it vents it creates a low pressure situation on the back side of the diaphragm in the wastegate. when this happens the wategate will open. so without the boost line on the turbo hooked up you will only be able to boost to the maxium holding pressure of the wastegate spring. so if your wastegate holding pressure is high enough for the amount of boost you want to run then youll be fine. otherwise you can get the boost pressure from the intake maniflod and route it over to the T fitting on the Y hose. its also possible to run a manual boost controller instead of the stock electronic setup to get your desired boost pressure. however if you do hook up a manual boost controller you need to leave the stock boost solenoids electical connection hooked up so you dont get a check engine light.
