Hi all, new guy ques. Can I just gut the cat on my 87 stock GN (Syclone fuel pump and FPR only mods)without any problems? Been working with Syclones for last 8 years and it's a no no for them, overboost fuel cutout at wot. If I gut the cat on the GN will I get any problems like fuel cutout or check eng. light? Read archives a bit and can't find a positive answer.

Thanks
Jim

I would think it's fine on a TR because it would be "like" a test pipe. Although I could be wrong.

It will be fine. There are very few similarities between the 4.3 and the 3.8. I gutted the cat on my GN myself with a hammer and chisel. No ill effects whatsoever. I moved to a test pipe w/ a dump soon after. Good or bad, the TR ECM doesn't know or care what the boost level actually is. It makes its fueling decisions based on a number of factors but manifold pressure is not one of them.

The SyTys use a MAP sensor (manifold pressure) so if you go beyond one bar (14.7 psi) it cuts the fuel to the engine so you can't build anymore boost. I put a hi-flo cat on my Typhoon and had nothing but trouble with it.
