Jason Byrd (Byrds87gn) | Thursday, July 26, 2001 - 05:46 pm I am all up for super-fast spool-up(sound familiar?). I have a TA-49 and want it faster. Would installing a ceramic turbine like the GNX's make a real difference? Does anybody know where I can get one? |
Scott Keller (Keller) | Wednesday, August 01, 2001 - 12:15 pm It might help. But, given the prices I have heard for the GNX unit, I think a ceramic piece will be very expensive, very hard to find, or (most likely) both. A little extra stall in your torque converter will help with spool. But a '49 is a pretty quick spooling unit anyway. Another option would be the ball bearing center sections Turbonetics offers. |
David Huinker (Turbodave) | Wednesday, August 01, 2001 - 01:07 pm You can't get much faster spool up than a TA-49. Are you having difficulty? What reference are you using that leads you to believe it's slow? If it is in fact slow, then there's a tuning problem that needs to be addressed. TA49's spool every bit as fast as the stock turbo. |
Jason Byrd (Byrds87gn) | Wednesday, August 01, 2001 - 05:53 pm There's no problem with spool-up as it is, but who wouldn't want even faster spool-up? Just a brainstorm I had. |
