Well my car already had an ATR front mount with the BOV mounted on the lower tank when I got it. It was never hooked up and the spring was adjusted very loose, which allowed it to leak boost and keep me limited to 19#. Well I finally noticed it and cranked the screw in but I think it is still leaking at the higher boost I am trying to run now (23#). My question is, what ports should I hook up to help keep this thing closed? I am not worried about it working properly and venting boost, just staying closed. FWIW I know I could/should just remove it and put a plate in there, but a vacuum hose would be easier :) Does the bottom port help hold it closed by giving boost to the bottom part of the diaphragm? Should I tee into a line before or after the TB for the lower port? Should I leave the upper disconnected?

Thanks for any info on how this thing works. I check the archives but still don't understand what each port is doing and am just speculating.

I think most of us have had better luck using the top port only. Connect it to a source that has both boost and vacuum. Any of the lines off the tb will do as long as no check valve exists before the point you tee into which would serve to eliminate boost.

When under boost, the connection to the top port will serve to force the valve down and maintain the seal. When under enough vacuum to overcome the spring pressure, the piston will rise at bleed of excessive trapped pressure when the tb blade closes.

By 'top port', do you mean the one next to the adjusting screw, or the one facing the mounting pad?

The top one for me would be the one facing the mounting pad. If boost holds it closed, there must be some type of mechanism in there that activates the diaghram cause it seems backwards.

To me, the top one is the one on the top of the unit....beside the adjustting screw. I guess it depends upon which side is up. :)

Thanks Steve. Now that makes sense :) I had been reading where people were talking about the 'top' port but no one really ever said which port they were referring to.

Thanks again

Paul
