I recently noticed that I have an exhaust leak where the passenger side header bolts up to the bottom of the turbo. There is a gasket in place there that apparently had a one inch section of it melted off and thats where the leak is. I called GM and asked about buying this gasket and they told me the TR's didn't come with a gasket there. I had the header worked on about a year and a half ago. I think the guy that worked on it put the gasket on when he put the header back on. Any idea where I can buy this gasket, or do I even need it? GM told me that the two surfaces should just bolt together.

GM does have a gasket for this. It is not listed for the Turbo Regals. It is the graphite/composite gasket. I guess it has some other application, but I do not know what that app. is. If the two surfaces are cleaned up real well then you shouldn't need one, as long as they are completely flat. Alot of people like to use the copper gaskets that are available from lots of vendors. They are hard, of course, they are copper, but they hold up real well, last longer, and are reusable. The other gasket if you can find it, is much more forgiving of less than perfect surfaces, but will eventually blow out, and don't last as long. If I ever find the application, I'll let the list know. Until then, the copper is your best choice.
