Brad Griffey (Griffey) | Thursday, October 25, 2001 - 06:48 pm I recently bought an 87 GN and it came with an alcohol injection kit already installed.Problem is the pump was locked up and I don't know what pump it is and what it's for, will any injected fuel pump work? Thanks for any help. |
Brian Lee (Brianwagonlee) | Friday, October 26, 2001 - 06:30 am I think that regular fuel pumps don't hold up to alcohol. Describe the system, maybe someone on the list can identify it, and tell you where to get a replacement. Brian |
Brad Griffey (Griffey) | Friday, October 26, 2001 - 07:49 pm I'm pretty sure this was a home-made kit.It has a discount auto store overflow for the alcohol,-4 nitrous line with a nitrous nozzle(has a jet in it not sure which one),it has a pressure switch which works off a manifold vac line that turns on the pump.I tested it with my air compressor set on 20psi and I could here the pump clicking so I know the system is working. It seems the pump is froze up. |
Steve Hill (Stevehill) | Sunday, October 28, 2001 - 05:13 am Here are three pump possibilities: >Carrolls Supercharging pump A25011 >Flojet D7135B7011A >ShurFlo 8000 The ShurFlo pump is the cheapest but you'll need the optional 80-100 psi replacement pressure switch which allows more pressure. The Flojet is a great choice also which will generate 100+ lbs. Contact Ken Mannarelli at Flojet sales for better pricing. Mention my name, as I did a pump comparison test for him last year and he'll know what you need. Finally, the Carrolls Supercharging pump...is probably the best, but way over priced. It's basically a modified old-style Flojet. It is the pump I have used for over 4 years, and, if you're bucks-up, is the one I recommend. |
