Monday, October 29, 2001 - 10:25 am I need to get a K&N to fit a 3.5" LS1 MAF. Also need the MAF to turbo hose/pipe. Anyone got a line on a vendor? Side question: will the 3" ends fit on the 3.5" MAF meter?

Thursday, December 13, 2001 - 07:59 am Hey Paul, I'm a brand new buy to the GN scene, in fact my car is being trucked to me now - so please bear with/ I would like to know more about conv- erting over to an LS1 MAF - maybe you did it your- self or know where I might find out the how-tos? As far as a pipe vendor, I saw a "big mouth kit" listed on www.buickgn.com -> "Turbo Regal Custom Parts" and look under cold air kits - looks like he has what you need. Let me know what you can about the LS1 MAF!! Thanks - stevet

Thursday, December 13, 2001 - 08:45 am I decided to make my own pipe. Used two 3.5" 45 degree bends. Picked up some rubber couplings at the hardware store to tie it all together. You can see it in this picture: http://www.oldwestracing.com/cars/gnengine.jpg It's not a great view of it, but you can get the idea. I used the K&N that I had. It was for 3" pipe, but a little mild warmth from the heat gun and it was persuaded up on the 3.5" easy enough. The LS1 MAF made HUGE improvements in driveability and throttle response compared to the POS Autozone stocker rebuild I had. If you can get an LT1 MAF, which is 3", it makes life easier cause you can use the existing stuff. Hope that helps a little.

Thursday, December 13, 2001 - 09:17 am I should clarify that I used the rubber couplings to connect the turbo to the pipe and the MAF to the pipe..I welded the two pieces of pipe together It isn't as back woods looking as it sounds...

Thursday, December 13, 2001 - 09:18 am Looks good to me Paul - nice fat downpipe! The question I was really asking was, where do I find the translator needed to put an LS1 MAF into a GN? Figured you might know since you have one installed.....thanks for the help!
